Podcast & Forums We Frequent
Hey guys, if you enjoy listening to podcasts or checking out forums, then here are a list of places that both of us frequent and what we think of them in no particular order.
The Loaded Dice Podcast – Rob and Andrew bring another Australia perspective to Warhammer 40K as well as Warhammer 30K: Horus Heresy, discussing all thing to do with the hobby and gaming as well as traveling to play in Horus Heresy events and organising their own events in Sydney. You can find out more about them on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/The-Loaded-Dice-Podcast-228935583970867/?fref=ts and you can find their episodes on iTunes.
Preferred Enemies – Rob, Kevin, Denis and Richard bring more of a casually competitive view of the game to their discussions and cover off on all the 40K releases and as well as talking about what hobby they have been working on no matter what game system it is for. The also cover off on several interesting topics that helps the casually competitive player from army painting to preparing for a tournament as well as discussing various ways to play the game and tournament coverage. You can find them at http://www.preferredenemies.com/
Signals From The Frontline – Reece and Frankie bring a shorter podcast compared to the rest, being on about 40 minutes in length on average. They pack in a lot from new releases from various gaming companies, rumors of what is coming out in the future, a rant segment, tactics discussion, rules lawyer segment where they go through a rule that is contentious and can be misplayed as well as reviewing a 40K army list sent in by a listener. These guys bring a lot of good and humorous discussion to the podcast whilst looking into some of the competitive sides of 40K. You can check these guys out at http://www.frontlinegaming.org/
11th Company – (They concluded in early 2015, but still a great listen to)This is the first 40K podcast I listened to from when 6th edition came out. Neil and the rest of the hosts do a great job at going through codexes and rules with a competitive gaming view point and critical analysis of 40K competitive game play, list design and strategies and tactics. The also promote the 40K community locally, nationally and internationally by interview various people from TO’s, opponents at tournaments, business owners that conduct businesses that deal in hobby products and general discussion and friendly banter. I really recommend listening to their if you are or are wanting to become, a competitive player. You can find them at http://www.tangtwo.com/11thcompany/
The Independent Characters – (They concluded in mid 2015, however a lot of their episodes and content is still relevant) Carl and the rest of the Independent Characters hosts do an awesome job of covering more of the hobby side of 40K as well as covering reviews of Forge World and Black Library releases with interviews with the Authors of Black Library novels. They are always positive about them game and focus on playing the game for fun rather than for competitive gaming and playing the game in all of it’s possible forms. They are also apart of the West Coast Podcast Alliance with both Imperial Vox Cast and Life After The Cover Save podcasts and cover.
